Salford Red Devils have today announced a scheme to invite all children in care in the city to home games in the upcoming 2023 Super League season.

The programme is part of their ‘Be a Red’ campaign, and will see children in care, alongside those in foster care, in the city invited with their families to attend all home league fixtures this season.

The campaign aims to ‘inspire young people from across Salford by experiencing live, elite sport’, and is supported by Salford Children’s Services.

Rebekah Tucker, of Salford Children’s Services, said they are “delighted to be involved with this initiative, which will afford our cared for children amazing experiences and opportunities within their city”.

Director of the club, Paul Trainor added: “As a club we are proud to be at the heart of our community within the city of Salford.”

The announcement follows on from Monday’s initial launch of the ‘Be a Red’ programme, which will see the club award family tickets to students who are nominated by their school for demonstrating good behaviour and a positive attitude.

The club began the new season on Friday night with a 20-10 win over Leigh Leopards. The first home game of the season is tomorrow night against Hull Kingston Rovers, where the club will welcome the first beneficiaries of the ‘Be a Red’ scheme to the Peninsula Stadium.
