Sir Alex Ferguson leaves Man United ambassador role.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be parting ways with Manchester United after Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS decided to cut his multi-million pound role as Worldwide Ambassador for the club.

Coming 38 years after Ferguson originally joined the club as manager in 1986, the decision has split fan opinion online, though Ferguson is said to have received the decision ‘amicably’, per The Athletic.

Ferguson is not the only person to have lost their job, as INEOS have made around 250 redundancies since they took over 25% of the club earlier in the year.

Though no longer an ambassador, the former United manager will stay at the club as a non-executive director and is welcome to attend matches.

“Yes it is part of that cost cutting measure, but I don’t think it’s the end of the world for him” said BBC’s Sanny Rudravajhala speaking to Quays News.
