Salford City will make the four-and-a-half-mile journey across Manchester to the Etihad Stadium, where they will face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The Ammies confirmed their place in the FA Cup third round for the first time in their history with a convincing 2-0 win over League Two rivals Cheltenham Town on Saturday.
Salford City captain Curtis Tilt reflected on the cup draw and told us: “It’s going to be a great day for the players, the staff, everyone involved with the football club, and the main thing for the fans; they haven’t got to travel that far to see us perform at one of the best stadiums locally for us.
“We’re going to go out there, do our best, and give our best accountability of ourselves, and hopefully, we can cause an upset.
“It’ll be a great day when it comes around, but most importantly, we’ve got to get some wins in the league, start climbing up the table a little bit more, and hit the targets we want to.”
The draw took place at Old Trafford and was conducted by former United player Mark Hughes and former Aston Villa Striker Dion Dublin.
Curtis Said, “It was a great experience. It was my first time on the telly in a football environment. I enjoyed seeing some managers and ex-footballers there. Dion Dublin was great.”
For the over teams in Greater Manchester, holders Manchester United have been drawn away to 14-time winners Arsenal.
Stockport County we’re the last team pulled out of the hat and will travel to Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.
Wigan Athletic have been drawn away from home for the third time in a row after being paired with fellow League One side Mansfield Town.
The ties will be played over the weekend of January 11, with winning teams earning £115,000 from the FA’s prize fund as losing sides receive £25,000.
