Rochdale AFC is offering fans the chance to have their names inscribed on a new wall, which is proving so popular that three panels have already sold out.
The wall is made up of panels containing individual plaques purchased by supporters, whose family and friends can also be displayed alongside personalised messages.
Since the project was announced in October 2023, three panels have already been installed, with the latest close to selling out.
It is situated by the players entrance, and 70% of funds from plaque sales goes directly to the club.
Tony Pockney, one of The Dale’s Club Directors, is a key figure in its creation.
“The fan wall is the first of two projects I’ve got planned,” he said. “The first is the Dale Fan Wall and the second will be a memorial wall.
“Both projects allow fans present and past to have their love of the club recognised whilst raising much needed funds”.
The Dale have had a turbulent financial year, running losses of over £1m and facing the threat of liquidation.
Their relegation to the national league last year worsened their financial situation, and the club are currently in talks with a potential investor.
The continued expansion of the fan wall, however, demonstrates the support and loyalty of Rochdale fans to their beloved club despite these circumstances.
“The fan wall, if sold out, raises £23k for the club”, Mr Pockney said.
“The memorial wall should raise similar. But both should stir memories and connections to the club too”.
“We now have a fabulous backdrop for fans young and old to capture selfies with the players as they arrive at the ground or after a game”.
Rochdale AFC supporters can purchase a regular plaque for £80 or a large plaque for £150 here.
