A Salford woman shared her experience as she had to spend “30 minutes” trying to convince someone to step down from a roadside roundabout.
Personal trainer, Danielle Clarke was driving when she spotted a man approaching the barrier of a roundabout, before she rushed into action.
As instincts kicked in, she spent 30 minutes talking the man down from the edge, speaking to him throughout this period whilst police were being called.
Following the experience, she said: “I was approaching the roundabout, and I saw a guy walking towards the barrier.
“I went over to the man, and he actually started to talk because I was constantly talking at him.
“He just said he didn’t want to be here anymore.
“I literally spent 30 minutes trying to convince him that life was worth living,” the Salford personal trainer added.
The heroic actions of Danielle were quick and vital, as according to the charity Mind: “One in 15 people attempt to take their own life.”

Danielle continued: “If anybody needs help, please please please reach out to somebody, because there is help.”
And the support for those with mental health seems to be on the rise, as throughout August 1.94 million people were in contact with mental health services.
As according to NHS statistics there were 391,915 new referrals being received and two million care contact attendances during August alone.
The rise in people in seeking mental health services, Andreia Fortes, registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and Bolton councillor said: “Mental illnesses exist, it’s real, so we have to inform ourselves, ask someone “Are you okay? What do you need?
“If you haven’t heard from a friend for two, three days, that’s not a common behaviour so check on them”, continued Andreia: “In this era where we’re always on social media looking at other peoples’ lives, it’s important to look inwards”
