Halloween presents area actors with work opportunities during seasonal slump.

With Halloween looming, annual Greater Manchester horror-themed events such as Scare City and Farmaggedon will be hugely popular again this year.

But what about the people behind the masks? Due to the competitive nature of the industry, young actors have little choice but to take roles at these events as they may be the only acting opportunities for people outside of big cities, as those roles don’t pay well enough for the actors to live there.

Sarah Stockton is a 19 year-old scare actress with a drama degree, and whilst she loves her job, the work is only seasonal and requires 10 weeks of unpaid training, which can hurt financially.

With the end of the year brings a seasonal struggle for young actors to find work, but with a range of Halloween events in the North West this year, people hoping to work in the acting industry may have an opportunity to get a foot in the door.
