“Everyone was covered in glass”- Manchester woman speaks out about surviving bus crash

A woman from Manchester says that passengers believed a bomb had gone off after a bus crash on Rochdale Road.

According to eye witnesses the Number 17 bus had been hit by another bus as it pulled up to let passengers on board. The incident happened on Saturday, 9th November at around 8:30am and Julia Tkacz was one of the victims.

She said: “It was just so powerful, the glass had just shattered everywhere, everyone was covered in glass pieces”, she explained.

“I was just getting this pulsing headache; I couldn’t hear anything for the first two minutes,” she added

Ms Tkacz also stated that the passengers were stuck in the bus as everyone was “covered in blood.”

“There was a woman downstairs who had been seriously injured; everyone was around her and she was covered in blood, we were all passing tissues to try and stop the bleeding.” she said

She also explained that the front of the bus that hit the number 17 was hanging off the vehicle.

People who were there also stated that they believed a bomb had gone off as the bus crashed at a force.

At least 17 people were injured and taken to hospital. None of the injuries were deemed as life threatening.
