The popular new Bee Network night buses have had a successful first month, (numbers).however when taking public transport at night, there are always some risks. Last year the number of reported assaults on buses in Manchester increased by 48%.
To keep passengers safe, Bee Network have developed partnerships withTravelSafe and StrutSafe to improve and add resources to journeys. These include metal detectors for weapons, sniffer dogs and drones following bus routes. TravelSafe will be adding visible policing with staff and officers that will be spending more than 5,000 hours per week patrolling the Metro link and bus networks, both day and night and seven days a week.

Strutsafe will be looking to help keep you safe when walking home at night. whilst you are walking home Strut Safes phone network will be available to call if you ever feel unsafe. Strut Safes volunteers will stay on the phone with you until you’re though your door.
The partnerships will be primarily lead by British Transport Police, Northern rail, Stagecoach and many more rail services to help tackle the issues that stop many of us using public transport, as well as when you are walking alone.
