With the season approaching a nail-biting finale, Manchester City fans will turn their focus to European football as their side faces Bayern Munich tonight.
City are already 3-0 up in the quarter-final after a dominant performance at the Etihad last Tuesday. Goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland have put the Sky Blues in pole position to advance.
So what are the thoughts of City fans ahead of tonight’s game?
Nigel, who was in attendance last Tuesday, said: “I think we’ll concede an early goal and be worried for the rest of the first half. I think we will go through, and then beat either AC Milan or Inter Milan in the final.
“We’ve not won it before so to win it for the first time would be great.”
His daughter, Olivia, also expressed how important it would be for City to win their first Champions League. She said “I might be being a bit too optimistic but I think we’ll go through the semis, into the final and win it.
“Surely tonight we’ve got to go through with the three goal lead.”
Should Manchester City progress tonight, they will face current holders Real Madrid, who famously knocked them out at the same stage last year.
Guy, from Stockport, is concerned that the memory of last season’s defeat in the semi-finals could still haunt City.
The season ticket holder said: “Given how we collapsed in the last minute at Real Madrid before, I’m worried the players will still be thinking about that.
“I do think we’ll be fine tonight, I can’t see us not scoring but I’m already getting nervous about playing Real again.”
The potential semi-final legs against the Spanish Champions will be played on the 9/10 May and 16/17 May.
Whatever the outcome tonight, expect Erling Haaland to add to his already record-breaking tally of 47 goals.
