Mackinnon And Saunders: 30 Years And Beyond Exhibition
The minds behind the most famous animation models ever created have put some of their most iconic works in a unique exhibition.
From the moment that you walk through the doors at the Waterside in Sale, you are immediately greeted by many childhood favourites.
Models from tv shows such as Bob The Builder, Twirlywoos and Raa Raa The Noisy Lion sit proudly on display and immediately catch the eye.
There are some wonderful displays of models from amazing animated films. Corpse Bride by Tim Burton and the latest Pinocchio film by Guillermo del Toro are just some of the film models.
All around the room, there are so many old models as well as new characters from various films and tv shows. Mars Attacks!, Frankenweenie and the Fantastic Mr Fox are all showcased, as well as many more.
There are also images on the walls that show the work that went into these projects. They provide wonderful behind-the-scenes context to what working on these films is like.
For fans of these works, this is a must-see exhibition. To have the opportunity to be up close to these well-crafted models is truly special. The level of detail in them is quite amazing to see in person.
For those who may not know, Ian Mackinnon and Peter Saunders are the co-founders of Mackinnon & Saunders. an animation studio based in Altrincham.
As mentioned, their work will be recognisable to almost anybody. They have a long list of work, and the items on display are just a small snapshot.
