Professional boxer Charlotte Powell is keen to make a statement ahead of her return to the Liverpool Olympia.
Relishing the opportunity to rematch Jamileth Vallejos on March 4, Powell said: “You’re going to see what I do best.
“She’s not better than me, she’s not won half as what as I have done. It’s just about getting everything spot on in the build-up.”
Last September, the 23-year-old broke her finger en route to a draw against Vallejos in her second career fight.
Powell admitted that the injury sustained in the second round was a major turning point in the fight, scored 38-38 by judge Jamie Kirkpatrick.
“That’s when the fight turned into a big brawl. When I took my glove off, my bone was literally hanging out of the fingertip.”
Powell boasts a decorated amateur career, winning the 2018 NABGC (National Association of Boys & Girls Clubs) championships and the 2019 Women’s Winter Box Cup.
The Merseyside fighter successfully transitioned to the professional ranks in April 2022 with a points victory over Gabriella Mezei but was setback five months later by her Nicaraguan rival.
Powell confessed: “When I snapped my finger I didn’t come out of the house for two weeks. I didn’t get dressed, I didn’t interact with anyone, I stayed in the house and that was it.
“No one likes to draw, I thought I won that bout even with a snapped finger.”
The Featherweight hopes that victory in March will propel her towards title fights before the end of the year.
For titles, Powell said: “I want them all. Hopefully, I can get a belt this year and get signed by Matchroom or BOXXER.”
