How the cost of living is impacting local sports teams

Manchester’s sports teams have fierce competition when it comes to keeping fans in their arena’s due to rising bills and living costs across the UK. We have taken a look into how local teams are keeping people in their stadium seats and how much more it is costing to watch your teams live year on year.

Salford City FC

For the Salfordian’s, fans will be happy to hear that even after they fought for promotion to league Two in 2019, ticket prices have remained somewhat stable over the last 10 year’s going back to when they were a national league side. Under the class of 92, pricing continues to be within a £15 – £20 range this season per game, roughly the same as it was back in 2015 when Salford were only a semi-professional side.

Salford City FC also regularly boast on their website about their season ticket prices being among the lowest across the EFL Football League Two.

Manchester Basketball

If you prefer local teams on the rise, rather than mainstream sports, head over to Manchester’s Super League Basketball side. Playing out of the National Basketball Performance Centre, an adult ticket will leave you £18 lighter for Sundays 1st December game against the Sheffield Sharks.

This may leave local fans and families scratching their heads, as it cost’s less to see the national champion London Lion’s when they also play Sheffield on Wednesday 18th December which is costing £14.95, making it £3.25 less.

Manchester Storm

Manchester’s Ice Hockey team is costing £24 for adults and £12 for child tickets at the moment. The infamous Hockey side play at the Planet Ice Altrincham and if you prefer a colder atmosphere, it could be something different for the family hat doesn’t break the Christmas bank. With budgets getting even tighter coming up to Christmas, fans of their local teams will continue to face the question: ‘How worth the money is it to see your favourite teams live?’.
